Cutting Media

How Can CCRCo's Reusable Media Save You $$$?

Gillette would be proud of the "other guys." As the leaders in the "razor blade" theory of sales, they take a back seat to "the other guys" when it comes to selling cutting media for conformal coating removal. Let's take a look at what conformal coating removal really costs. (We'll call this Media 101–Actual Costs.)

For a 25 pound box of sodium bicarbonate, the favorite media used with other systems, the cost is in the neighborhood of $68.50 per box. That works out to $2.74 per pound. (PS: Sodium bicarbonate is also ESD unfriendly at ±3000 Volts).

CCRCo includes 30 pounds of our ESD friendly, reusable media, with the initial shipment of our conformal coating removal workstations. If we use the worst case scenario, removing either polyurethane or epoxy conformal coatings, you will be able to recycle our media about 50 times before it loses its properties.

30 pounds of CCRCo's media—included in initial purchase
x   50 cycles
1,500 pounds of equivalent media usage

       1,500 pounds of sodium bicarbonate
x     $2.74 per pound
$4,110.00 worth of sodium bicarbonate

How about removing other conformal coatings?
Acrylic and UV curable urethanes breaks down our media after about 75 cycles:

30 pounds of CCRCo's media—included in initial purchase
x   75 cycles
2,250 pounds of equivalent media usage

       2,250 pounds of sodium bicarbonate
x     $2.74 per pound
$6,165.00 worth of sodium bicarbonate

Silicone and parylene are the least aggressive and thus the cycles are more. One hundred (100) cycles of our media is not uncommon with these applications. Doing the calculations:

30 pounds of CCRCo's media—included in initial purchase
x  100 cycles
3,000 pounds of equivalent media usage

       3,000 pounds of sodium bicarbonate
x     $2.74 per pound
$8,220.00 worth of sodium bicarbonate

In other words, when you buy a Conformal Coating Removal Workstation from CCRCo, we include the equivalent of $4,110.00 to $8,220.00 in sodium bicarbonate media in our initial sales price!

We are not sure if the sodium bicarbonate sold by our competitors is fit for human consumption, but if it is, make sure you give some to your boss before you spend this much money on cutting media.

Additionally, you may strip almost anything (except silicone) without further processing. No residue will remain on the board. (With some silicones, you may need to wash off the board.) No other media can make this claim!

Clearly, CCRCo's reusable media Conformal Coating Removal Workstations are the one and only units to consider. The CCR1000 and CCR2000 units beat other systems in every way.
